Wellness Retreat on Martha’s Vineyard: Relaxation, Yoga, and Spa Experiences

Martha’s Vineyard, a picturesque Massachusetts island getaway, is the perfect summer vacation destination for all. Whether you want to go to the beach, explore historical sites, or embark on a relaxation trip, Martha’s Vineyard has it all.

In this blog post, we will share with you how to turn your island vacation into the most relaxing and rejuvenating wellness retreat. With a plethora of yoga studios and spas, as well as beautiful scenery, there are many Martha’s Vineyard destinations to explore.

Yoga Studios

Martha’s Vineyard is home to many yoga studios. With so many options, choosing a studio (or studios) can be difficult. Don’t worry – we will break down the best studios in the area and what each of them has to offer.

Yoga on the Vine offers “yoga for every body on Martha’s Vineyard,” aiming to provide a welcoming environment open to all. Yoga teachers and therapists lead vinyasa, infrared hot yoga, pilates, yin, meditation, and more. Yoga on the Vine holds virtual and in-studio classes daily, as well as private sessions. Buddhist meditation sessions are offered weekly, and yoga therapy sessions are also available. It is important to note that classes often sell out in advance, as class sizes are small.

A restored New England barn used for yoga and bodywork, The Yoga Barn holds a variety of classes, including aerial yoga, anusara, gentle yoga, vinyasa, moderate flow, restorative, slow flow, yin, and dance movement. Offering a variety of in-person and online classes daily, there is something for everyone. Additionally, The Yoga Barn has two bodywork rooms for massage therapy and traditional Chinese medicine practices.

For hot yoga fans, Hot Yoga MV is the spot for you. They offer group and private classes daily, such as hot vinyasa, hot power hour, and inferno pilates. A bright, white studio, Hot Yoga MV is a gorgeous spot to practice yoga. Vineyard Vinyasa is another fantastic option for hot yoga – it is an inclusive hot yoga studio in Edgartown that offers welcoming yet challenging classes. With a mission to “share the sweating, grounding, and empowering practice of hot vinyasa yoga with the island community, its diverse visitors, and the world,” Vineyard Vinyasa is all about connecting people through hot yoga. They offer daily hot yoga classes and are also available for private bookings, mentorship, workshops, and training.

Wholesome MV is a network of wellness educators, community partners, and practitioners all about attaining wellness through practice and patience. In-person classes are held at locations such as Martha’s Vineyard Museum, West Tisbury Free Public Library, Island Alpaca, Martha’s Vineyard Trustees, Chappaquiddick Community Center, and Island Grown Initiative. Wholesome MV offers a variety of unique classes, including beach yoga and alpaca yoga, in addition to more traditional yoga, meditation, and breathwork options. They have group, private, and virtual classes. Additionally, Wholesome MV hosts cooking classes as well!

For fun special events and private yoga in a quiet farm setting, check out The Salon For Creative Yoga. They pride themselves on providing creative yoga that is “a soul-satisfying body holiday” and “a yoga of compassion, connection, and love.” Sign up for a private session with up to 20 people, or design your own retreat for a day or a weekend. Along with yoga, they offer presentations, author talks, and art exhibitions.

If you’re looking for outdoor yoga with an adventurous twist, try paddle board yoga at Island Spirit. A peaceful flow on the water for people of all experience levels, paddle board yoga is offered Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 AM.
